Looking In All The Wrong Places – Treasure Verse Devotion

Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might.

Daniel 2:20

You’ve heard the saying “looking for love in all the wrong places” before. Well there are other things you can look for in all the wrong places! Wisdom and might, to name a couple.

Nebuchadnezzar’s dream troubled him so greatly that he demanded an interpretation from his wise men. In order to be sure they were not just “shooting him a line”, he demanded that they not only provide an interpretation of the dream but the dream as well! Of course, that was asking far too much. They replied, “The thing that the king asks is too difficult, and no one can show it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with the flesh.”

They were looking in all the wrong places – the gods! Actually, they were diverting the king’s demand away from them because they had no idea where to look for such an answer. The king was outraged and ordered all wise men be killed, which would include Daniel. Daniel took the matter to the Lord, and the Lord revealed the dream and the interpretation to Daniel. This week’s treasure verse is the first line of a song Daniel sings in praise to God.

Whether it’s love, wisdom, might…salvation, forgiveness, peace, joy, etc. You name it. The things that matter most. The things that are beyond us are not beyond God! Ask Him today for the things that only He can supply and stop looking for them in the wrong places.
