A Graduation Prayer

I had the privilege to pray the invocation at my nephews’ graduation. I thought I’d share that prayer with you.

Father,

We are thankful for the milestone that today represents in the lives of Christian and Caleb De la Moriniere. You have been so gracious in so many ways to bring them to this point in life. Through the past 12 years of ministry and moves, ups and downs, You have sustained them and their studies.

We are thankful for this milestone and we pray for the many that lie ahead as Christian and Caleb continue to grow and be and become the men of God You’ve called them to be.

We pray for direction – that they may know which path is Your path for them.

We pray for wisdom – that they may not only know the difference between good and bad but also between good and best.

We pray for vision – that they may see far past the short term and to the long term.

We pray for courage – that they may be bold and fearless in the faith.

We pray for strength – that they may stand firm on Your Word.

We pray for grace – that they may be gracious to others.

We pray for mercy and compassion – that they may do to others as they would have done to them.

We pray for faith – that they may believe in You and in Your promises when life is full and when life is bleak.

We pray that You may fill them with Your Spirit – that they may be known by their love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

We pray for these things because only You can give them.

For the good of Your sons Christian and Caleb.

And for the glory of Your name, we pray.

Amen.
